Explore How to Give Yourself a Break During Lockdown Author: Tough Mudder Share on Facebook Share on Twitter For the first in our #MudderMinds series we spoke to mindset coach (and Mudder) Dave Cottrell about motivation and comparison in the age of isolation. Dave runs Mindset by Dave where he coaches people through a range of mental health struggles including anxiety, depression and stress. Dave’s story is one that mirrors many in the Tough Mudder community. Having struggled with mental health and confidence problems for most of his life in 2007 he started to take care of his physical health. Dave lost over a third of his body weight but it was the change exercise made to his mental health that made him decide to start helping others, first as a personal fitness trainer and now as a mindset coach. Motivation, Comparison and Mental Health As a legionnaire (Dave has taken on Tough Mudder Classic and Europe’s Toughest Mudder) we couldn’t think of a better person to speak to the community about how to take care of their mental wellbeing during this very difficult time. In this first video Dave talks through motivation and momentum and encourages us to not put pressure on ourselves even when it comes to the smallest of tasks. He also discusses comparison and how comparing ourselves even to a better version of us can be damaging. So find a comfortable seat, relax and enjoy the full video from Dave. If you have any questions or feedback then let us know via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. We’ll be trying to answer your questions and provide tools to help you through lockdown over the coming weeks. Wondering what #MudderMinds is all about?
