Explore The Ambassador Obstacle Design Challenge Author: Tough Mudder Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Here at TMHQ we know we can always depend on the ambassador community to step up when it comes to our annual Obstacle Design Competition. With things looking a little different this year (we can’t bring ourselves to write strange or unprecedented one more time) we decided to bring the competition forward and make the most of everyone’s spare time. Running the competition while we haven’t got any events (booo) meant that we could think about how to get more from a classic moment in our calendar. This has meant that while we’re still running the Obstacle Design Competition and we’d love you to take part in it, we also have a special competition just for the Tough Mudder UK ambassador community. Your Challenge… If you choose to accept it, is to channel all of the excitement and attention that you gave our ongoing Devil’s Beard transformation last year into an obstacle upgrade of your own. We want you to take an obstacle or two (more on that later) that has felt a little lack lustre and give it some TLC so that the next time you face it on course, whenever that may be, the experience has gone from lame to high octane. “That’s sooo easy,” you’re thinking. Not so fast ambassador. This ain’t the Obstacle Design Competition. Yes, you could just add in tear gas and electric wires and call it Electric Baby 2.0 but that won’t get your creation onto course. You’re going to need to put your TMHQ hat on and follow the same parameters that we do when we design an obstacle. The Obstacles Are… We’ve chosen two obstacles for you to transform, one is an old classic that might bring a fond smile to your face but that will never conjure epic, heart racing memories. The other was a 2019 challenge which faded into the background while new obstacles like Mudderhorn and Black Widow took centre stage. Obstacle Numer 1 – Kiss of Mud Obstacle Number 2 – Tight Squeeze You can choose one or both of these obstacles to transform and have as many goes as you like. We group our obstacles in four handy categories; fun, courage, teamwork and personal accomplishment so your souped up obstacle will need to fall into at least one of these categories. You don’t have to use the same structure that you see above but the experience (and name) must stay the same. That means Kiss of Mud will need to include some aspect of being close to the dirt and Tight Squeeze will need to conjure feelings of claustrophobia. Keep in mind that we have budgets to stick to (so no solid gold barbed wire) and that thousands of people will need to be able to experience your obstacle without it falling apart. How to Enter Once you’re happy with your new baby, snap a photo and send it to [email protected] Please put ‘Ambassador Challenge’ in the subject line and tell us: Your nameThe obstacle you’ve upgradedHow your obstacle works and why you’ve utterly embarrassed Giles and his attempts to revamp Devil’s Beard With this competition, more than any other, the chance that your creation or some part of it could end up on course is sky high.
