A brand new location, fresh challenges, fear-facing obstacles and scenic views. The debut of Tough Mudder Birmingham was an epic addition to the 2024 UK calendar. Here’s what went down at the event.
The course
Tough Mudder Birmingham, based amongst the prestigious grounds of Ragley Hall, provided a course that was a brutal mix of surprise hills, thick, clingy clay mud, and never-before-seen UK obstacles. The route tore through unforgiving woods, grassy terrain, and stunning stately home views (if you could survive long enough to notice).
The obstacles
Veteran Mudders know every course delivers fresh challenges, blending new obstacles with brutal classics. Nowhere on the UK circuit featured clay mud like Ragley Hall’s Mud Mile. It left Mudders covered from head to toe. The UK debut of “Son of a Ditch” quickly became a fan favourite (some Mudders might still be clawing out). With the September humidity in full force, Arctic Enema, Blockness Monster, and Hydrophobia were extremely welcomed for a much needed cool off.
A weekend of firsts
It may have been the debut year of this epic challenge, but Tough Mudder Birmingham was packed with major achievements. From MVP volunteers hitting milestone counts to rookies taking on their first (of many) courses, the event delivered. Veterans were also celebrated, with one Mudder hitting the 200th mark and others earning their x100 rewards. Ragley Hall will be etched in the memories of the entire Mudder community.
