Team V3nture’s Epic Journey
Meet Team V3nture, a badass trio of British Army soldiers on a mission to become the first serving military trio to row any ocean. They’re tackling a non-stop 3000-mile voyage from the Canary Islands to Antigua in a 9m rowing boat, all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. The team includes Rob Cross from the Welsh Guards, Charlie Newman from the Royal Artillery, and Rob Treasure from The Rifles. Their goal? To conquer the Atlantic in around 35 grueling days.
Tough Mudder South East: The Ultimate Prep
To gear up for this insane challenge, Team V3nture took on Tough Mudder South East earlier this year. It was the perfect training ground for the unexpected obstacles they’ll face at sea.
“Our time at Tough Mudder South East was incredible. The atmosphere and camaraderie were off the charts, reminding us why teamwork is so crucial for our upcoming challenge. We had tons of meaningful chats with Macmillan supporters and people affected by cancer. It hit us hard how open everyone was about it and how much cancer has affected so many people, showing that cancer isn’t the taboo it used to be. Even though folks were muddy, soaked, and tired, they still took the time to talk with us and donate generously.”
The Motivation Behind the Mission
Rob’s father, Stephen, was diagnosed with cancer just as he finished his military training and joined his Battalion. Stephen fought against cancer for months with the support of the nurses in the Macmillan Renton Unit but sadly eventually passed away in hospital. We have named the boat in his memory and are raising money for Macmillan nurses so that others can have the support that they need in such desperate times.
