Team Chaos: Mud, Mayhem And A Dash of Ice Hockey

It all started with a challenge, the kind that separates the mud hunters from the couch potatoes. When Emerge teamed up with Tough Mudder, they threw down the ultimate gauntlet: form a squad, share your story, and show the world why you’re ready to face the filth. The prize? Free entry into Tough Mudder, cash for the crew kit, and a charity boost to boot. From this call to action, one unstoppable team rose from the comments, bold, driven, and ready to #EmergeVictorious. And just like that, Team Emerge Victorious was born.

Team Captain Ketziah gives us the lowdown on her squad.

Meet the Team: Instant Yes, Zero Persuasion

Some teams need convincing. Ours? One ask and boom, we were all in. No begging, no bribing, no promises of post-race pizza (though, honestly, there had better be pizza). Well Ketziah, we can confirm, there will be pizza.

Tough Mudder Rookie? Please. This Is Number 7

Yeah, that’s right. This isn’t our first rodeo or our first mud bath. With six Tough Mudders under the belt already, we’re charging into number seven with the same enthusiasm as a Labrador discovering its first puddle.

Training Like Champions (Or at Least Like People Who Want to Survive)

We’re hitting it hard, on and off the ice. That’s right, we’re balancing runs, cycling, and gym time with the good ol’ Canadian classic: ice hockey. Because nothing says “ready for mud” like getting body-checked into a wall.

Readiness Level: 7/10 and Proud

On a scale from one to “I’m basically a mountain goat,” we’re solidly at a seven. Strong, semi-confident, and just nervous enough to know we’ve got work to do. But hey, at least we’re not pretending we’re invincible. Yet.

The Obstacle We’re Denying Exists

The electric ones. All of them. Don’t talk to us about wires, zaps, or volts. We’re pretending they’re just, well, not there. Until they are. Then we’ll scream.

Everest Strategy: Chaos, Commitment, and Blind Faith

The plan? Sprint like we stole something, leap like our lives depend on it, and pray someone on our team is strong enough (or tall enough) to haul us up. Basically, a perfectly executed mess.

Victory Celebration? TBD…But Mud Angels Are Highly Likely

We don’t have a set plan. Maybe a mud angel. Maybe a dramatic, Oscar-worthy flop. Maybe just lying there, questioning life choices. Either way, it’ll be dirty, glorious, and probably caught on camera.

Running for Andy’s Man Club: For the Boys

We’ve chosen to support Andy’s Man Club, a cause close to all of us. We’ve seen what mental health struggles can do and one of our ice hockey teams backs the charity too. This run’s for all the lads who’ve needed a bit of backup.

Fundraising Tactics: Spam ‘Til It Hurts

How are we getting the cash? Easy: relentless digital warfare. We’re spamming everyone we know. WhatsApp, Insta, Facebook, email, maybe even carrier pigeons if needed.

The givestar charity fundraising platform makes it even easier, as it allows you to take card donations on your phone, you can literally ‘tap up’ your friends and family whenever and wherever you see them.

See you in the mud.

MUDDER DONE – DID THE TEAM EMERGE VICTORIOUS?

We caught up with Team Captain Ketziah to find out.

Which was tougher, mud or ice?
Ice is definitely tougher. Mud might slow you down and make you a bit messy, but ice is unforgiving, cold, hard, and there’s no give in it. At least in the mud, you can laugh while you’re slipping around. On the ice, it can be quite painful.

What was your most, ‘What am I doing here?’ moment?
Without a doubt, going up the steep hills!! Every step felt like my legs were made of lead. Halfway up I remember thinking, ‘Why did I sign up for this again?’

On Everest, was it graceful heroics or full-on faceplant?
Somehow I managed graceful heroics despite the exhaustion, I managed to stay on my feet and make it look like I knew exactly what I was doing.

Whose battle cry was most motivating … or most tragic?
Mine was probably the most tragic. I went for something inspiring, but it came out as more of a wheeze than a roar. Definitely didn’t have the effect I was going for.

Which obstacle would you happily never see again?
Pole dancer, can never do it. I gave it my all, but I just don’t have the grip strength for that one. I’d be happy to leave it in the past.

Three words to sum up that finish line feeling?
Relief, exciting and broken. Relief that it was over, excitement that we’d actually done it, and broken because my whole body was aching.

What did you do to celebrate your achievement?
Emerge spray. Nothing has ever tasted so good, it felt like the perfect way to recharge after all that effort.

How much did you raise for your charity?
We’re so proud to have raised £547 for Andy’s Man Club and to know it’s going to make a real difference to those struggling with their mental health.

See you on the start line in 2026
