You Have To See These Inspiring Photos Of The First Tetraplegic To Finish A Tough Mudder

Rob Camm, age 21, is the first tetraplegic to complete a Tough Mudder. Paralyzed from the neck down, this former rugby player and Legionnaire was injured in 2013 just 1 week before he was set to start college.

But in August of 2016 at Tough Mudder South West, alongside his friends and family in a wheelchair he controls with his chin, Rob completed Tough Mudder, a goal he set for himself even before the accident.

When asked what becoming a Legionnaire meant to him, Rob said “Teamwork, challenge, and involvement. Teamwork because everyone on the course is helping each other under and through various obstacles. Challenge because everyone is pushing themselves to overcome the obstacles on course. And involvement because this was an opportunity for me to do something with my friends on a level playing field, especially given the limited opportunities I have to do that”.

Not only was Tough Mudder something fun for Rob to do with his friends, but it also gave him and his team a chance to raise money for SpecialEffect, a charity which has provided technology to help him adjust to life after the accident.

Since then Rob has completed Tough Mudder in 2017 and will return to Tough Mudder South West again this year.

Scroll down to see 8 inspiring photos of Rob and his team taking on the mud together.
