Who doesn’t love a good hot (or cold) shower? They wake us up in the morning, help us to relax and of course keep us clean after sweaty workouts or muddy adventures. But cleaning isn’t the only thing people do in the shower… We sat down with our official shower partner GROHE to investigate what’s going on in bathrooms around the globe.
1. Brits Love to Put on a Show
In public Brits might be famous for a stiff upper lip but in the privacy of their own bathrooms they’re prone to letting loose and belting out a tune or too. According to GROHE’s research every second person in the UK sings in the shower. The real question is, what’s your go to song?
2. The French Are Squeaky Clean
We’re busting misconceptions left right and centre here. Remember that silly (and frankly rude) myth that French people don’t wash? Well it couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact the French are taking the lead when it comes to frequency of showering with 86% showering daily in the summer and 69% daily in winter.
3. We All Love to Multitask
The modern world has us all under its thumb and obsessed with productivity. Surely nothing demonstrates this better than the fact that 48% of us are brushing our teeth while in the shower. To those in the 48% we say, slow down, relax and enjoy your shower. Or maybe just make sure you’re getting up with enough time to spare.
4. Russia is the Home of Relaxation
Maybe it’s the cold climes or perhaps Russians just know how to prioritise their health and wellness but Russia definitely have relaxation as a priority. 80% of Russians enjoy a long evening shower, ensuring they’re ready for a good night’s sleep.
5. Showers Aren’t Just for People
Yes, as well as washing and relaxing people all over the world are doing all kinds of other things in the shower (get your mind out of the gutter). 27% of people wash their pets in the shower, while 29% wash household items in there and astonishingly 13% wash car parts in the shower – we’re pretty glad we don’t live with anyone in that section. We weren’t too surprised by this one though, having watching thousands of Mudders take on Tough Mudder Challenges we know all sorts goes on in there.
