Tough Mudder returns to Hopetoun Estate in 2027 with a course that’s as scenic as it is savage. Edinburgh might brag about its historic cobblestones and castle views, but Hopetoun Estate is where the real grit happens for 2027. Located in South Queensferry, just 35 minutes outside the city, this course swaps scenic weekend strolls for a technical, low-gear gauntlet along the shores of the Firth of Forth. Do not let the postcard-perfect rolling countryside fool you; the woodland trails and relentless changes in terrain are a masterclass in pacing that will systematically sap your momentum before you even face a single blockade. The ground here is naturally waterlogged, meaning the dirt path transforms into a heavy, shoe-snatching sludge the second you splash out of the coastal water.

Kids by Spartan is a 1km, 1.5km, and 3km course packed full of obstacles to give kids aged 4-14 the chance to work as a team and get muddy. It’s THE mud and obstacle run for kids. This year, there’s no reason why the whole family can’t get muddy.
